This adapter plate assembly is used to adapt a Ford Small Block V8 Engine to the Jeep T-86 & T14 3 speed manual transmission. The adapter plate is 2.400” in length and is manufactured from 356-T6 heat treated aluminum alloy. Included in the adapter plate kit you will receive an adapter plate, Ford bearing retainer pilot bushing, seal, fastening hardware, and adapter instructions.
Note: The T-86 and T-14 has the same front bolt patter. The T-14 must have been originally used with a cast-iron adapter plate to the Buick V6 engine.
Transmission
The T-86 (1966-68) 3 speed transmission has a case length of 8.00”. T-86 will normally be stamped on the case. These transmissions were only used with the Buick V6 engine found in Jeep CJ’s and Commandoes.
The T-14 (1967-75) The T-14 is a 3 speed transmission with a cast iron case. I has a casting number of T14A or 1302 and a 1 1/8" 10 spline input shaft. The I6 T-14 has a 1 3/8" 6 spline output while the V6 T-14 has a 1 3/16" 10 spline output. Input shafts lengths also vary between the two applications.
