DANA 300 Cable Shifter Kit _____________________________________________________________________________ 
_____________________________________________________________________________ Step 1: Remove shift tabs from Dana 300. This is most easily accomplished by the use of a sawzall.   _____________________________________________________________________________ Step 2: Remove mechanical shifter linkage by pulling cotter pins and pushing retaining pins out from the bottom.   _____________________________________________________________________________ Step 3: Remove the top 2 bolts from the cast aluminum output retainer using a 9/16 socket  _____________________________________________________________________________ Step 4: Remove jam nut and locking ring from the end of the cables.  _____________________________________________________________________________ Step 5: Slip cables through center holes of bulkhead bracket and reinstall locking ring and jam nut. A good starting point is to center the bulkhead on the threads of the cable.  _____________________________________________________________________________ Step 6: Thread back on the gold locking nut and valve ends until the cable threads bottom out in the valve end.  _____________________________________________________________________________ Step 7: Insert threaded rod with nut on end through the bulkhead and DOM. Your kit contains two precision cut lengths of DOM to keep the bulkhead square to the transfer case. Looking at the front of the case, the longer of the two gets positioned on the left, while the shorter on the right.  _____________________________________________________________________________ Step 8: Thread assembly into top 2 holes from cap screws removed in step 3.  _____________________________________________________________________________ Step 9: Insert the valve ends into the slit in the shift rails and fasten down with a 1/4 x 1" Cap screw and Stover nut. Lastly tighten cable jam nuts against valve ends.  _____________________________________________________________________________ You have now completed assembly of the cable shifters on your Dana300.
